  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs or crushed cornflakes (for extra crispiness)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional for richer flavor)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

  • Lemon wedges
  • Tartar sauce or garlic aioli

Instructions

Step 1: Choose the Right Fish

Select fresh or thawed white fish fillets such as cod, tilapia, or snapper. Rinse them under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.

Step 2: Season the Fillets

Place the fish in a bowl. Drizzle with lemon juice and sprinkle with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and chili powder (if using). Let the fillets marinate for 10–15 minutes to absorb flavors.

Step 3: Prepare the Breading Station

In one shallow dish, place the flour. In a second bowl, beat the egg. In a third dish, mix breadcrumbs with Parmesan cheese (if using).

Step 4: Bread the Fish

Coat each fish fillet in flour, then dip into the egg, and finally dredge in the breadcrumb mixture. Press gently to ensure even coating.

Step 5: Fry the Fillets

Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the fillets. Cook each side for 3–4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Use a thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C). Remove and drain on paper towels.
