Ingredients
For the Salmon:
-
4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)
-
1 tablespoon olive oil (for brushing)
-
Salt and black pepper (to taste)
-
1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
-
2 green onions (sliced, for garnish)
For the Orange Teriyaki Glaze:
-
1/2 cup fresh orange juice (about 2 oranges)
-
1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium recommended)
-
2 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup for a vegan option)
-
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
-
1 teaspoon grated ginger (or 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger)
-
2 garlic cloves (minced)
-
1 teaspoon cornstarch (mixed with 2 tablespoons water, for thickening)
-
1 teaspoon orange zest (optional, for extra flavor)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking dish or sheet pan with aluminum foil or parchment paper for easy cleanup.
Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel. Brush them lightly with olive oil and season with salt and black pepper on both sides. Place the fillets in the prepared baking dish.
In a small saucepan, combine the orange juice, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, grated ginger, and minced garlic. Whisk the ingredients together and bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat.
In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water to create a slurry. Slowly whisk the slurry into the simmering sauce. Continue cooking for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat and stir in the orange zest (if using).
Brush half of the Orange Teriyaki glaze over the salmon fillets, ensuring they are evenly coated. Reserve the remaining glaze for serving. Bake the salmon in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
Remove the salmon from the oven and let it rest for 2-3 minutes. Drizzle the reserved glaze over the top and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Serve immediately.
