  • 8 small tortillas (corn or flour)

  • 1 cup shredded cabbage or lettuce

  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes

  • 1/4 cup diced red onion

  • 1 avocado, sliced (optional)

  • Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish

  • Lime wedges for serving

For the Cilantro Lime Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise

  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, finely chopped

  • 2 tbsp lime juice (about 1 lime)

  • 1 garlic clove, minced

  • 1/2 tsp honey or sugar (optional, for sweetness)

  • Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Cilantro Lime Sauce

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine sour cream (or Greek yogurt), mayonnaise, chopped cilantro, lime juice, minced garlic, and honey (if using).
  2. Whisk until smooth and creamy.
  3. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.

Step 2: Marinate the Shrimp

  1. In a bowl, toss the shrimp with olive oil, chili powder, smoked paprika, cumin, garlic powder, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper.
  2. Ensure the shrimp are evenly coated with the spices. Let them marinate for 10-15 minutes.

Step 3: Cook the Shrimp

  1. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the marinated shrimp in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they turn pink and opaque.
  3. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 4: Warm the Tortillas

  1. Heat the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave for 20-30 seconds until warm and pliable.
  2. Alternatively, wrap them in foil and warm in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5-10 minutes.

Step 5: Assemble the Tacos

  1. Spread a spoonful of cilantro lime sauce on each tortilla.
  2. Add a layer of shredded cabbage or lettuce.
  3. Top with cooked shrimp, diced tomatoes, red onion, and avocado slices (if using).
  4. Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves and a squeeze of lime juice.
