  • ½ cup (120ml) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup (56g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

For the Egg Wash (Optional for Glossy Finish):

  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon milk

For Brushing After Baking:

  • 1 tablespoon melted butter

Instructions

Step 1: Activate the Yeast

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and instant yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy.

Step 2: Prepare the Dough

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
  2. Add the yeast mixture, sweetened condensed milk, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix everything using a wooden spoon or a stand mixer with a dough hook.
  3. Once the dough comes together, add the softened butter and knead until fully incorporated.

Step 3: Kneading the Dough

  1. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10-12 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  2. If using a stand mixer, knead on medium speed for about 7-8 minutes.

Step 4: First Proofing (Let the Dough Rise)

  1. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel.
  2. Let it rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours or until it doubles in size.

Step 5: Shaping the Bread

  1. Punch down the dough to release air bubbles.
  2. Divide it into equal portions if making rolls, or shape it into a loaf.
  3. Place the dough in a greased baking pan and cover it again.

Step 6: Second Proofing

  1. Let it rise for another 30-45 minutes until it puffs up.

Step 7: Baking the Bread

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Brush the top of the dough with the egg wash.
  3. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and fully cooked.

Step 8: Finishing Touches

  1. Remove from the oven and immediately brush with melted butter for a soft and shiny crust.
