Easy Tomatillo Avocado Salsa Recipe

  • 6 medium tomatillos, husked and rinsed

  • 2 ripe avocados, peeled and pitted

  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

  • 1 small jalapeño, seeded and diced (adjust for spice level)

  • 1/4 cup white onion, chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • Juice of 1 lime

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1/4 cup water (as needed for consistency)


Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Tomatillos

  • Rinse the tomatillos under warm water to remove their sticky residue.

  • If you prefer a raw salsa, chop them into quarters. For a slightly milder flavor, boil them for 5 minutes until softened, then drain and cool.

Step 2: Prepare the Avocados

  • Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a blender or food processor.

Step 3: Blend the Ingredients

  • Add the tomatillos, cilantro, jalapeño, onion, garlic, lime juice, salt, and black pepper to the blender.

  • Blend until smooth, adding water as needed to reach your desired consistency.

Step 4: Taste and Adjust

  • Taste the salsa and adjust seasoning as needed. If it’s too thick, add a little more water or lime juice.

Step 5: Serve and Enjoy

  • Transfer the salsa to a serving bowl and let it chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

  • Serve with tortilla chips, tacos, or as a topping for grilled meats.
