  • 1 large egg

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

For the Gravy:

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced

  • 2 cups beef broth

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tablespoon ketchup

  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup water (for slurry)

  • Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Beef Patties

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, chopped onion, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined—avoid overmixing to keep the patties tender. Shape the mixture into 4 oval-shaped patties, about 1/2-inch thick.

Step 2: Cook the Patties

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add a drizzle of oil and cook the patties for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until browned. Remove the patties from the skillet and set them aside on a plate.

Step 3: Make the Gravy

In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Sprinkle flour over the onions and stir to create a roux. Cook for 1-2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.

Step 4: Simmer the Gravy
